The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque (UNM), founded in 1889 is the home of the Lobos and New Mexico’s Flagship University. It is a college where a distinguished research institution combines rich student diversity, innovative educations systems, and scientific exploration. The U.S. News ranks more than one of UNM programs in the Top 10 (the Nuclear Engineering program ranks as 15th, rural medicine degree as 2nd, family medicine as 9th, and 7th nationwide in Nursing/Midwifery degrees).

UNM epitomizes diversity not just in its student population which is a second home to 1,500 international students but in its program offerings which span a variety of fields from bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and professional degrees. In total UNM offers more than 215 degree and profession certification programs. Noted as an R1 doctoral university with very high activity by the Carnegie Classifications of Institutions in Higher Education with 12 campus libraries backing the 302 engineering patents issued since 1999 and the new advancements in health care discovered at UNM.
